Happy Friday everyone! The weather is slowly warming up - sometimes going back to cold for a few days again - and summer is just around the corner. I'll be honest, I normally don't like summer, but that just means I'll be spending the upcoming months hidden behind closed curtains, with a fan on me, and trying my best to ignore the world and work.

Speaking of some content and work, let's sum up some of the things that's come out in May.

Incidental Mythology - Video Essay

This month's video essay is all about the demonstration of different forms of intelligence on the UK show Taskmaster. Through its tasks, and the way it celebrates different ways of thinking, Taskmaster helps to show that our traditional ways of thinking of intelligence, as something which is primairly based on degrees and formal education, is not the only ways that someone can be intelligent. Celebrating creativity, unique perspectives, and innovative problem solving, Taskmaster is a wonderful new take on what it means to be intelligent.

Fan of That! Podcast

Season 3 has kicked off over on I'm a Fan of That!, my podcast I host with pop culture writer Holly Swinyard. Our first episode is out now, and is all about representation in video games, focused on my recent new enjoyment South of Midnight.

Writing Vlogs

Over on the personal youtube channel, I got a few writng vlogs, as usual. May covered a few different topics, such as:

• ​Struggling on a Short Story | Magic Tea Shop Pt 1 - we're starting the second short story of the year, which is all about a magic tea shop
• ​Let's Make a Character | Magic Tea Shop Pt 2 - after the previous struggle, we rethink our approach and start planning by creating a character for it
• ​Bournemouth Writing Festival Review - I went to the Bournemouth Writing Festival at the end of April, and it was my first one. So I recapped the experience, what happened, and how much it cost.
• ​Writing the Rough Draft | Folklore and Taylor Swift Essay, Part 2 - we're back to the nonfiction essay on Taylor Swift as folklore and write the vast majority of the rough draft.
• ​Editing my Novel... Again... - After doing the Bournemouth Writing Festival and having taken some time away from Project Caramel Latte querying, I'm re-editing some small bits, especially the beginning, after hearing some notes.
