June Recap

June is wrapping up. I can't believe it's already passed - time seems to be moving so quickly. But I'm starting to sound super old, so maybe we should just move on.

June is my last month before I launch my substack, which will be posting blog-style posts every Tuesday at 17. At the moment, I have scheduled a few to also come out here on this newsletter feed. I hope that's not too annoying. If it is, you can let me know somewhere and I'll refrain. But I figure - why add another newsletter to a newsletter you already have?

Anyway, let's get into everything that happened in June.

I'm a Fan of That!

My podcast I'm a Fan of That! had a few episodes come out in June.

Our first was on Coffee Fandom, a topic which came from one of our lovely Patrons. We chat about tea culture in the UK, how coffee shops are different around the world, and why America is so in love with coffee.

Next up was actually a bonus episode! With the news that Taylor Swift bought her masters, there was a major schism in the Swiftie fandom, and I wanted to talk about it!

Last up, we got a podcast episode all on RuPaul's Drag Con. We talk about what drag actually is, have a disagreement on whether drag necessitates subversion, how gender is performed, and the history of drag.

Video Essays

This month's video essay is a return to the world of video games. I love the way world building happens in Stardew Valley, and their religion is no exception. But what I partucularly like is that the religion in Stardew Valley is actually a pretty good approach to how religion actually works.

Writing Vlogs

As usual, we got quite a few writing vlogs, especially as we begin to wrap up the different projects from the second quarter of the year. So let's get into it! We got:

Anyway, that's it for this month! Get ready for some lovely posts this upcomong month, and strap in for loads of new thoughts and content and blogs. And, as always, be good to one another.

September greets us with my first pumpkin spice latte of the season, a cooler breeze on the air, and an array of new pop culture enjoyment. The last month has been filled with a lovely amount of writing, some nice academic research that is re-invigorating this tired soul, and some new pop culture fads that I both loved to watch as well as to analyse. So, let's get into it! What I'm Writing I typically like to have my video essays for the Incidental Mythology YouTube channel finished about a...

August's passing means that autumn is on the horizon, though it's not quite here yet. The last few months have been very enlightening for me personally. I've had to put several projects on the back burner, brought forward quite a few, and made a lot of progress on things I didn't think I'd even start by now. Sometimes, you just need to make some adjustments to see what's needed in your life, I think. Space away has given me a good amount of time to really think and reconsider. I'll give some...

August. The death rattle of summer is hitting hard, with more heat waves as I hoard ice and try and figure out how to cook without heating up the kitchen. But that's what the weather's doing. For me, personally, things have been shifting, though perhaps for the better. Projects have been put aside, and I'm focusing on far fewer things than I typically do. And, who knew, the creative juices are having a better time flowing when I don't force myself to constantly be moving. Alright, so let's...
